eBusiness Integrators (EBI) is a woman-owned technology company based in Montgomery County, Maryland, USA. Originally formed in 1998 as Krug Engineering Services, EBI provided high performance computing and electric power engineering services for technology systems. In 2009, Krug Engineering Services merged with another company that specialized in complex information systems integration. The merger resulted in a greatly expanded range of capabilities and enhanced value to customers and clients.
Today, EBI specializes in complex integration, from planning and installation to performance tuning and high availability.
Our background is high performance computing (HPC) and massively parallel processing/storage in an AIX environment. We use the experience we have gained from installing and managing complex HPC clusters and apply it to the installation and management of business systems making them easier to use and maintain.
Carolyn has been President and Senior Consultant with EBI since 1996. She has provided technical management, planning, installation, installation, integration and development services for high performance computing systems at various customer sites specializing in the IBM supercomputers. Carolyn has managed several projects including the planning, installation and management of daily operations at the National Center for Environmental Prediction for several IBM supercomputers and associated storage subsystems (including HPSS and TSM). She also managed Supercomputer installation for NOAA.
Prior to EBI, Carolyn was an Advisory Engineer for high performance computing systems at Lockheed Martin Federal Systems. In this role, she led IBM SP System support efforts at IBM customer sites. She also managed and coordinated resources for Lockheed's Integrated Supercomputing Lab containing an IBM Scalable PowerParallel System, workstations, Lockheed's Power Image Processing System, SGI Crimson, file servers, tape archive and striping disk array. Additionally, she investigated, procured and integrated new hardware and software products.
Carolyn was also Staff Engineer for IBM Federal Systems where she worked closely with customers on system engineering, testing, integration and support.
Carolyn is a cum laude graduate of Virginia Tech with a BS in mathematics. She attended University of Maryland for postgraduate work in applied mathematics. She is a member of the IEEE Computer Society where she participates on the Parallel Processing and Supercomputing Applications committees. Carolyn is an IBM Certified RS/6000 SP Specialist, an IBM Certified High Availability Cluster Multiprocessing Specialist and a IBM Certified AIX Technician.
Don is a veteran of the US Navy where he began his technical career as a data systems technician. Prior to merging his company with EBI, Don’s primary focus was serving as Team Lead for the IBM technical support and integration team supporting the National Centers for Environmental Prediction, (NCEP) Central Computing Systems, (CCS). His esponsibilities include managing a team of 5 systems administrators tasked with maintaining 99% system availability; integration of IBM and non-IBM hardware and software to meet NCEP requirements for High Performance Computing, (HPC); and customer facing and project management. He provided system integration and administration services to NCEP in support of the CCS supercomputers and coordinated on-call support to meet NCEP’s 24x7x365 mission requirements.
Don also lead implementation of the Systems Design Life Cycle for the Mid-Tier Unix environment at the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA). His work included gathering and evaluating system requirements; evaluation of vendor products including trade study; system design; system integration; developing procedures for system operations. The system consisted of Multi-Terabyte Oracle Data Warehouse, various OLTP servers also utilizing Oracle, Enterprise storage, (EMC and Hitachi) and Backup and recovery ( Tivoli Storage Manager). Don developed procedures for rapid data movement between “Production, Development, and Test” through the use of EMC TimeFinder and his team achieved requirement for high availability through the integration of IBM HACMP. His other clients have included the US Treasury – Financial Management Services, Advanced Broadband Solutions, University of Maryland and others.
Don received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland. He is certified as an IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert (CATE) and a Tivoli Storage Manager and is also SP Certified, HACMP Certified, is certified in AIX 4 Communications and AIX 4 Administration.
